Karl Barth's Summary of Christianity

Karl Barth 1886 - 1968

When the renowned theologian Karl Barth neared the end of his life, he was asked to sum up his thoughts about Christianity. 

No doubt the questioner expected a lengthy, ponderous explanation from the learned professor. 

Instead, Barth answered by reciting the words of a song many of us learned in childhood: "Jesus loves me; this I know. For the Bible tells me so."
