Welcome to Albert's Sermon Illustrations

In this blog, I have collected many stories, quotes, jokes and ideas that I use regularly in my sermons.I have tried to put in the sources and origins of these illustrations. If I have missed some or gotten the wrong sources, please let me know. I will update them. Feel free to use these illustrations for the glory of God. If you have some illustrations that you like to contribute, kindly add them to my blog, so that I and others may benefit from them. God bless!

The Meaning of Sonship

Watchman Nee tells about a new convert who came in deep distress to see him.

"No matter how much I pray, no matter how hard I try, I simply cannot seem faithful to my Lord. I think I'm losing my salvation."

Nee said, "Do you see this dog here? He is my dog. He is house-trained; he never makes a mess; he is obedient and a pure delight to me.

Out in the kitchen, I have a son, a baby son. He makes a mess, throws his food around, fouls his clothes, and is a total mess.

But who is going to inherit my kingdom? Not my dog; my son is my heir.

You are Jesus Christ's heir because it is for you that He died."

We are Christ's heirs, not through our perfection but by means of His grace.
